Depending on your relationship with Local 634 and how you use this website, we may collect:

3. How We Collect Your Information

We collect information directly from you when you register, log in, update your profile, submit a form, upload documents, or opt in to our SMS program. We also collect limited technical data automatically (e.g., last-login timestamps) to maintain site functionality.

4. Why We Collect and Use Your Information

  • Member administration: managing membership records, dues, and benefits

  • Employment facilitation: maintaining résumés and availability listings for production hiring

  • Training & courses: processing registrations and tracking training history

  • Health & safety: receiving and responding to incident and hazard reports

  • Financial administration: tracking dues and issuing tax receipts

  • Communications: responding to inquiries and sending union notices

  • SMS messaging: sending mobile messages to opted-in members (see Section 7)

  • Security: protecting accounts and the website from unauthorized access

We do not use your information for other purposes without your consent, or as required by law.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information.

We may share information only as follows:

  • Within Local 634: accessible to executives and administrators for union business

  • With producers and production companies: member résumé and availability information is visible to authorized producers for hiring purposes, with member knowledge and agreement

Service providers:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile – bot protection on forms

  • Email delivery services – form notifications

  • Sender SMS – mobile messaging for opted-in members

  • Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or government authority

6. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including:

  • SSL/TLS encryption on all data transmitted to and from this website

  • Passwords stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt)

  • Role-based access controls

  • Access to member data restricted to authorized Local 634 administrators

No electronic transmission or storage method is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. SMS / Mobile Messaging Program

IATSE Local 634 operates an SMS/MMS mobile messaging program through Sender SMS. Participation is voluntary and requires your express opt-in consent under CASL.

What we send:

Union notices, events, job postings, and other Local 634 communications (up to 4 messages per month).

Data collected:

Your mobile phone number, consent record, and opt-out history.

Opting in:

Through an online enrollment form or other approved method. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out:

Reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT. Requests are processed within 10 business days.

Support:

Reply HELP or contact [email protected].

Liability:

Delivery depends on your carrier. We are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your membership or permittee status is active, and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal, administrative, and archival purposes.

To request deletion, contact our Privacy Officer. Some records may be retained as required by law.

9. Your Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)

You have the right to:

  • Access – request a copy of your personal information

  • Correction – request corrections to inaccurate data

  • Withdraw consent – subject to legal or contractual limitations
